A two week force protection and anti-terrorism exercise on all Navy installations is scheduled to take place between Feb. 4 and 15. Exercise Citadel Shield-Solid Curtain 2019 is scheduled to take place Feb. 4 to 15. The event is an annual two-week force protection and anti-terrorism exercise on all Navy installations in the continental United States. The exercises use realistic scenarios to ensure Navy security forces "maintain a high level of readiness to respond to changing and dynamic threats," according to Navy officials. Though some past security drills have resulted in confusion, the Navy insists they have coordinated with local communities, base operations and local local law enforcement and first responders. The exercise could cause increased traffic around bases or delays in base access. Area residents may also see or hear security activities associated with the exercise.
